Kavalry Productions Inc. has partnered with Los Angeles-based Cakestart Entertainment to develop an original workplace comedy set inside a mental health hospital. The story is inspired by Kavalry partner Matt Kelly’s friendship with renowned psychiatrist and author Dr. David Goldbloom who is attached as a creative partner on the project.
"There's never been a workplace comedy set in a busy psychiatric hospital - a show that is about the staff, not the patients,” said Dr. Goldbloom. “I'm happy to be working with Cakestart to fix that...and to make people laugh.”
For over twenty years Kavalry partner and award-winning comedian Kyle Radke made audiences around the world laugh along with stories about overcoming his own mental health challenges. Kyle strongly believes that this project will help continue to welcome these important conversations.
“I’m a big advocate for talking about mental health so I couldn't be more thrilled that a team as experienced and respected as Cakestart Entertainment has chosen to work with us on this project,” said Kyle. “That they share our enthusiasm and trust our creative vision is such a huge vote of confidence.”
Kavalry approached Cakestart because of their stellar reputation in the industry as collaborative creative partners and vast experience with several high profile, successful projects.
The project is currently in development and will be presented to buyers in early 2025.
